General Knowledge

"Knowledge is of two kinds: we know a subject ourselves, or we can find information upon it."

- Samuel Johnson

Make time to keep abreast with world events by reading, surfing the internet and sharing your thoughts with your lecturers, seniors and friends.

Communication Skills

"Communication works for those who work at it".

- John Powell

Polish your communication skills. To join the global academia or workforce, you must be able to express yourself well. Challenge yourself to take up at least one international language. You can start by brushing up your grasp of the English Language, which you have been exposed to since pre-school. Refine your grammar, enhance your vocabulary and practice, practice, practice.

Get involved in a community service in your faculty

"Do more than belong: participate.
Do more than help: care.
Do more than believe: practice.
Do more than be fair: be kind.
Do more than forgive: forget.
Do more than dream: work."
- William Arthur Ward

You should not merely stand back and observe what happens around you. In order to learn, go through the experience. Get involved in a community service in your university. Sign up as an active member in the Science Club. Volunteer to organise an educational trip. Offer your skills to help your friends. Initiate a drama group and perform for charity cause. Join your school's badminton team. Make new friends.

Virtuous Values

"To develop the human capital, we want our citizens to be fully equipped with knowledge, practice good moral values, have a broad mind, love the country and possess the physical and spiritual strength."
-Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, former Prime Minister

Be LOYAL to your country and nation.
Be PROFESSIONAL in your conduct and always aim to excel in your studies.
Carry out your responsibilities and obligations and manage all activities with INTEGRITY.
To Mr. Masukor and Mr. Lawrence (both were my educators at Sri KDU), I hope what I am writing at this blog will fulfill what we had discussed about a year ago.

For me, I learned many valuable lessons during my two years IB Diploma Program. To make them clearer and easier to be understood, I will just write them in point form.

Preparation. This is the law of nature. There are so many big things that we will face and surely to face them in the best condition, we should really make the best preparation we could do. What I mean is that, to obtain the best result of our work ( for instance in our academics and examinations), it requires our true commitment for the ample and compatible preparation. As an example, how can we obtain 7 (in IB Diploma) or high distinction grade in our examination without doing the necessary preparations such as attending classes, studying, revising and understanding the subjects' notes, doing the exercises and past years examinations and so on. Insha ALLAH, we believe in God that He is The Just. We will obtain best results equivalent to our sincere and true commitment. If He does not give them in this world, surely we will not miss the best results in the hereafter.

Learn to be a good learner and listener. Yes, learning is a lifetime process. It will never end, until the last breath of ours. There are so many chances for us to learn, and from so many types of people. Be ready to learn, and remember that listening is a vital part of learning process also! We will absorb so many valuable input if we are able to be a very good listener.

Ask. It is one of the keys for us to learn. In some situation, asking can help and save our time a lot. If we ask something directly to the person who has good knowledge in it, the person will directly answer us. It's better from searching the answer by reading the book from word to word, page to page.

Contribute something to nation. I wholeheartedly agree with the slogan used Petronas, "Energy received, energy returned." Yes, the meaning of life comes from our contribution towards other people. This was what I had learned from my selfless comrades, teachers and also the characters in our English A1 SL literature stuff.

Be nice towards other people. Make friends with them. Learn to know them better, and appreciate their presence.

Reading is power! It becomes more powerful if it is broad, beyond the geographical border as we will be able to learn about the world, different nations and cultures.

Shape our attitudes to be the attitudes of the true winner. Attitude play a very significant role in our way to be the true winner. And bear in mind, the true winner must give something back to the society at the end of the day, and this will help to ensure the stability and peace in our shared lives. No man is an island, and everyone must be connected to the others.

Insha ALLAH, I pray to ALLAH may all what I has just written benefit anyone reading it. To Mr. Masukor and Mr. Lawrence, I hope that this has fulfilled what I had promised both of you.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4484938480248668160.post-11126568747164539522009-05-27T05:01:00.001-07:002009-05-27T05:01:22.537-07:00Unrealized Misstep
Thank God for everything He had allowed to befall upon us. Insha ALLAH, there are always countless wisdom and lesson for us to learn.

We agree with the philosophical words " human is imperfect, and always associated with weakness." Yes, it is true. Nevertheless, as a very positive thinking believer (mu'min), we should always do our best to enhance the quality of our lives. Learn from whatever incidents happen to us. ALLAH will never allow test and tribulation that are beyond our endurance, to befall upon us. If we encounter such a sad and trial situation, just smile sincerely and aprreaciate our Lord for this form of His love. Insha ALLAH, we are about to be at higher level and quality of life as His servants.

People around us are not always predictable. At times, they can be either happy or unhappy with us. Even we try our best to be very nice towards them, they might be unhappy with us. Why? I would like to emphasize on the point " unrealized misstep". Yes, we are unable to judge ourselves alone, without having other people's opinion. Sometimes, we do not realize and recognize our own misleading action and mistake. Consequently, they would feel uncomfortable and accumulate their anger towards us. A practical way to avoid such unforgettable and unhappy situation, especially if it involves and affects our relationship with them, let us be proactive and with pure sincerity to ask them frequently about what they think and feel towards us. Ask them to tell us whatever mistake we have been doing towards them. Insha ALLAH, it would be much easier for us to correct the mistake and stop making other people unhappy.

Anger. Angry. Scold. Unsatisfied.

Be strong. This is world. Not the hereafter. Stand firmly in reality. We are not in imagination. Be prepared to face so many kinds of people. They might do anything beyond expectation.

Get scolded.

Be patient. This is really beyond our capability to control it. Try to be cool, and do not respond to their scold with the same tone of anger. Relax our mind. We are believers, and not expected to practice such rude behaviour towards other people. Istighfar ( ask for His forgiveness) and remembering Him would cure our demoralized fellings.

Other people can do so many horrible actions to us. The smallest they can do is scolding us, and the biggest could be killing our life. Believe in ALLAH, He is our best Protector. Always pray for His protection upon us.

[Jacob] replied: "Shall I trust you with him in the same way as I trusted you with his brother (Joseph] aforetime? While the already space occupying stuff are less precious than the one that we need to put into it, what shall we do?

It is just a notably analogy of filling water into a glass. Ensure that the glass is empty and clean. Remove anything inside it and effortlessly we will be able to fill the glass the water.

The same philosophy applies for the process of memorizing The Holy Al-Quran. Stop for a while and let us check what are inside our heart? Are they essential or not? Since the The Holy Quran are the sacred words from ALLAH, it is undoubtedly necessary for us to cleanse our heart and appoint ample space inside it for the God's sacred words to enter it and abide for assuredly a long time ( insha ALLAH, until our last breath of obedience in this world).

Appoint ample space in our heart for the holy verses from God. Along the process of memorizing them, stop thinking of any other affair. Beyond doubt, it is one of the manners (adaab) during the process memorizing al-Quran that we need to really empty our mind from thinking all unrelated matters.

May ALLAH endow us with His blessings and make our daily affairs easy, especially our struggle to memorize His Final Book with true sincerity.

O ALLAH, unto You is our tawakkal, save us with Your endless blessings in this world and hereafter!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4484938480248668160.post-26293315143076415122009-03-24T04:22:00.000-07:002009-03-24T13:48:30.602-07:00A journey of English writing and sharing.

A journey of English writing and sharing.

Yes, it will start with God's willing.
